文化软实力  soft power of Chinese culture

　　相较于中共往届党代会的政治报告，此次十七大报告用了相当的篇幅论述文化。“文化软实力”、“文化创造活力” 等新名词频频闪现。中央党校教授戴焰军认为把文化软实力的概念写进党代会的报告，说明执政党在推进社会发展中越来越重视文化的作用。

　　Hu Jintao stressed the need to enhance Chinese culture as the country's "soft power" in his keynote speech to the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China （CPC）.

　　"Culture has become a more and more important source of national cohesion and creativity and a factor of growing significance in the competition in overall national strength," Hu said.

　　We must "enhance culture as part of the soft power of our country to better guarantee the people's basic cultural rights and interests," he said.

　　胡锦涛同志在十七大报告中强调，文化越来越成为民族凝聚力和创造力的重要源泉、越来越成为综合国力竞争的重要因素，必须提高国家文化软实力，使人民基本文化权益得到更好保障。

　　“soft power of Chinese culture” 即“文化软实力”；提高文化软实力为“to enhance soft power of Chinese culture”。
